What will happen is that Republics will nominate very outside candidates to win the primary, who will then lose (in most cases) the general election.

And then they will wonder why.

Or worse, they win. Then you have US Representatives talking about Jewish space lasers starting California fires.

    Only non-witches get due process.

We really don't need the GOP to drift further to the right. The country's bonkers enough already.

"Further" to the right? Trump was conservative? I am led to believe that he was a cult of personality pretending to be conservative.

I didn't mean further to the right than Trump, I meant further to the right than they are now. If you prefer, I could say 'even more fucking bonkers', so that you've got a bunch of conspiracy theorists and QAnon kooks competing with left-wing idiots like AOC. Trump was an opportunist, IMO. All that Bible stuff and embracing guns and the flag - sheesh, was anybody taken in by that?

Certainly, pop culture enjoys giggling at those darndest things for supporters of certain politicians more than others. But this is easily understood as selection bias.

I refuse to believe that a Biden journalist could find a Trump supporter.

Either the journalist is fake or the Trump supporters are fake, or both.

I was certainly never sold on his devotion to Christianity, nor to the military.

No, but many were, or at least were engaging in a willing suspension of disbelief.

Politicians say the darndest things, but in the end, it's how my own politics color everything they do that matters.

                        Amen.

You can attempt to heap shame on those who choose a side politically, but in the end choosing a side is the only way to achieve any of the miniscule political power an individual has. Or you can vote third party because your preference is to not be associated with real politics but rather the idea that you're above it all. I guess the nightmare would be that that third party politician would win, then you'd have to take some personal responsibility for your support of a politician that would almost certainly be more ridiculous than the ones for whom you find support unconscionable.
