Marietta for Ohio? Querstionable. there are a lot of candidates.

Cannon Beach? Definitely, although again there are a lot of candidates.

But Ocean City? For starters, it's by no means a small town. And it is definitely a tourist trap. Most all of it looks like a very seedy beach town - low-rent Vegas style.

Traverse City is nice, but I'd pick Ann Arbor.

The rolling land of southwestern Wisconsin is quite beautiful. It is not dissimilar to southern Ohio, but it is somehow different in a way I could never quite put my finger on. The farmland and homes are exceptionally well kept and picturesque.

Yeah, it's clickbait, but I found it interesting.

That's on Martha's Vineyard. Bit of a stupid choice, really, as it's not somewhere anybody normal can really hope to live. Also, if you get taken really sick there, you're in a mess of trouble.

One of these surveys identified Sharon, MA as one of the best towns in the country, which is the next town to ours, and is a much more normal kind of place. It's where I cycle.

Several of these aren't really small.

Williamsburg isn't even close to small. Virginia has a lot of nice small towns. Williamsburg is nice enough, but it is a giant tourist trap - it has a Busch Gardens amusement park.

Mr. Obama lives in Edgartown, it is small-ish with a lot of big people.

I lived in Ann Arbor, small town, big university.

Ocean City is terrible. Tourist Trap. Crowded. Dirty. Yucko. Avoid!

It is a tourist trap. That's all it is. A tourist trap for beach rats and families who don't know any better. It's Newark by the shore.

Any other choice would be better than Ocean Shitty. St. Michaels is beautiful. So is Chesapeake Beach. And Chestertown. And on the west, you have all of Western Maryland.

Clickbait indeed, that entry is a joke for anyone who lives in the state, including those who live in OC.

                  Please love yourself.

To describe it as the best town in Massachusetts on that basis says more about the people who chose it than it does the town.

Indeed. An apt description of Ocean City. The Delaware beach towns are light years better. St. Michaels is wonderful, and Berlin is very nice too.

To be honest, I find the Berkshires much nicer than the Cape and Islands, both for the scenery and the people.

@doctor-phibes I did not care for the Cape. Crowded, too much traffic.

If you visit off-season you can avoid the traffic, but you also realise how much poverty is there when all the rich people leave. There are really major drug problems in some areas.

Used to do a lot of business in St. Francisville. Ever since they built the new bridge at New Roads and they redid U.S. 61, it's a decent commute into Baton Rouge. The public school system is pretty good and they have a helluva golf course (The Bluffs).

You can drive through the back roads and run into a lot of 10 acre places with some really nice homes.

Besides, The Farm is just 35 miles down the road.
