    Before you can't?

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

It's not that a Canadian passport holder or permanent resident would be barred entry upon arrival to Canada. Upon return, they would be sent into forced into 14 day quarantine at a dedicated facility at their own expense. Probably a hotel close to the port of entry. Not at all like the more or less voluntary quarantine of last spring when they were to told to go straight home and stay home for 14 days.

Federal government has been clear since last March: avoid nonessential travel abroad. This time round if the more aggressive Covid mutations force lockdowns and flight cancellations, Canadians abroad will not be brought home on government charters like last spring.

Good policy. People have had ample warning. Those stuck outside the country just better hope their private travel health insurance policy is comprehensive and remains valid in all perils.
