An excerpt from an email received by a friend today who works in the food bank biz...I

Our industry is being tested in ways I have not seen in my time with XXXXX. Just this week I have heard about shortages on anything from cheese to chicken wings, crackers, sausage patties and everything in between. Demand seems to be outpacing supply in many instances. Manufacturers seem to be really struggling with labor issues across the board. It is more important that ever that we are staying in contact with our buyers and key operators, to see what issues they are being faced with. Please keep in mind many of our suppliers are within our footprint, and could possibly react more quickly than others.

We need to be proactive, and share information whenever we find it. Let's work together to be part of the solution for our distributors, manufacturers and customers.

Is this because so many employees have Covid? If so it should start getting better soon.

        Don't have a clue.

But if you take this at face value, and you couple it with the fact that seeds are scarce again this year, as are canning supplies, it makes for some interesting thought exercises.
