Amazingly enough a learned quite a bit about Frederick Douglass growing up in school. Moreso than Robert E. Lee.

I thought Nancy said it was destroyed..

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

I've heard military people get very used to sleeping on the floor and often need extra firm mattresses in civilian life.

The photographer asked a guy why they didn't have cots. The guy he asked said, "wouldn't want one. Might screw up the coolest floor in the whole world."

For some of the soldiers, this past week was their first time seeing the inside of the Capitol building.

        Please love yourself.

If only Trump saw this image in his head before he opened his mouth last week. There could be no other outcome.

I wonder if they'll cause more or less disruption than the invaders.

If it had ever come to that in a BLM riot, people would have been screaming fascism. Now people are rejoicing at the restoration of law and order. Enjoy.

I think these photos are really sad.

The US has lost the right, if of course they ever had it, to preach to the rest of the world on the benefits of democracy, and 'The American Way'.

                      I was only joking

All we had to do was enforce the law against an unarmed mob of doofuses. But we didn't. Because precedent. A precedent nobody on the left will own.

I think you can accuse them of bad enforcement. But, there was enforcement. There were constant skirmishes between police and protesters last summer.

If you're comparing this to CHAZ. Well, CHAZ-ing the capitol feels like it's in a different league.

And I don't think CHAZ had anything to do in terms of practical policy re: Jan 6.

I think it had something to do with the officers taking selfies with the mob. I think it had something to do with officers not making serious attempts to restrain the mob.

And there''s where the precedent is broken. We're actually enforcing the law.

I fear the real precedent is that if you have a pop-culture-approved cause, you can riot with impunity, but if not, you can't.

It would also help if you didn't have your Head of State egging them on.

Yeah, I know, that's totally unfounded. He's not a cunt and his most ardent followers aren't useful idiots.

Yeah, I know, that's totally unfounded. He's not a cunt and his most ardent followers aren't useful idiots.

Honestly - the woman near us crossing out Pence's name from her garden poster really had me thinking. What the fuck drugs is she on when she thinks Mike Pence is the bad guy here?

There's tons of "BLM" or "No Hate Here" signs on storefronts and lawns around here. I wouldn't touch those examples of humanity with an 11 foot pole. My pole goes to 11.

Those guys are facing suspension and maybe charges.

And there''s where the precedent is broken. We're actually enforcing the law.

I fear the real precedent is that if you have a pop-culture-approved cause, you can riot with impunity, but if not, you can't.

@horace I doubt many municipalities are going to follow in Portland or Seattle’s lead.

As for the destruction of federal property last summer, Trump and Barr were pretty adamant that they’d be prosecuting to the limits of the law. While I haven’t seen any follow up, I assume they did.

                                        Only non-witches get due process.

                                          No slippery slope?
