At the end of the day, the capitol building of the most powerful nation in earth was overtaken by an unarmed mob and a shirtless guy wearing a buffalo horn hat.

Hence the impeachment.
Also the Sergeant in Arms of both branches as well as the head of the capitol police have already been sacked or resigned.

Impeachment is a political process which I’ve already commented on the wisdom of.
Read Brandenburg vs Ohio for odds of criminality.

Exactly. LOL (in a sad way).
Did not someone post a meme in the one thread, something like
"The US spends $760 Billiion a year on defense and the capital was invaded in two hours by an unarmed mob and a shirtless guy wearing horns"

Right but at the same time let's call BS on the notion that this was a legitimate attempt at a coup. It was more accurately imagined as an iteration on the prior riots of 2020, with the police acting (or not acting) very similarly.
In a law and order society, this "coup" would have resulted in way more deaths of the suicidal folk attempting to overtake the Capitol. But we established in 2020 that we do not have a law and order society.
