Shit, you got it?
I didnβt catch that first read.
You didn't read it.
Only Dr. K knew. And you know how close-mouthed doctors are.
Pull up a chair sometime, and I'll tell you why my SIL is not on good speaking terms with my BIL...

I meant the strong hint in your first post.
I'm not that subtle. I was actually referring to news events overtaking the COVID surge.

I'll buy the popcorn, okay?
But, SRSLY, how are you doing?
Tell us about the course of your illness.
Just so I can make D2 jealous.
I'm ten feet tall and bulletproof.
Actually...I've never been febrile. I was nattily attired in my baggy scrubs, walking into the lab, when I called out to my boss that I knew I'd been in close contact with someone who had just tested positive for COVID. Sure, I wasn't hitting on all cylinders, but few people are this time of year. I've got a history of bronchitis this time each year, anyway.
So, I grabbed a swab and let the cute gal in hematology ram a swab through the back of my sinuses. If you don't get in deep, you ain't doing any good. Too many false negatives that way.
Anyway, I bingoed. That was Tuesday, nine days ago. Called my doc and told him I was positive (I had a wellness visit the day before, no problems), and he prescribed a Z-pack, Medrol dose pack, Vit C,D, zinc and Pepcid.
Since I was positive, I went home, grabbed up the wife and MIL, and tested them. Both positive.
I've had some hellatiously congested sinuses, a bit of a cough and just a hair of upper chest wonkiness, similar to a light case of bronchitis. had body pain in my back and hips for one day. Wife still has low grade fever, usually controlled with acetaminophen, and some body aches. She never had the congestion (and she's immunosuppressed), and her cough is productive. Breath sounds are good, though.
MIL? Bilateral pneumonia, classic COVID. Just trying to keep her out of the hospital. Which reminds me, I need to strap on my PPE and go do her 1700 meds. TTFN and I'll get back to y'all...

Ok, back in the saddle...
First, I would have liked to have been poked. But according to protocol, hospital PRN guys took a backseat to full-timers. The state has actually not done a bad job of allocations and pharmacies are giving the Moderna vaccine out now. But alas...
I told George that a lot of this stems from my idiot BIL. Always the fair-haired lad of the extended family, for the first time in several years, all of his immediate family could travel from Florida to Louisiana for Christmas. My FIL is 83 and every one if his siblings are still alive, except for the oldest. BIL and FIL pushed for the traditional Christmas Eve pig roast and singing. FIL, because the siblings are pretty much all in their 80's and 90's, and in declining health. BIL, because he wanted his grandkids to see what a "real" Christmas was. Besides, my BIL is one of those people who think COVID is overblown and nothing more than the flu.
My SIL (a survivor of a bad bout with COVID) argued with her brother about the whole affair. I took my SIL's side. In the end, we thought maybe we could pull it off with some mitigation and masks, because we simply couldn't argue everybody down.
Well, forget that shit. When you're the only people masking and you're unable to distance, you either walk away or take your chances. We shamed out, and participated in the get-together like the rest of the family.
Also, my BIL and his wife stayed with us. His kids and grandkids stayed in a B&B, but they were in and out of my house over a couple of days. If I could backtrack, my niece's husband had a "cold" when they arrived.
And folks, that's how I got COVID. Not from the patients I've swabbed, not from open specimens on a counter. At least I had company. My MIL, FIL, wife, daughter, son,DIL, BIL, niece, nephew, another nephew's fiance, two of my wife's uncles, etc.
Singing will get you...I hope everyone comes out ok, it's just too early to tell.
