The EU and China signed an “investment agreement.”

Between the US vaccine situation and Brexit and the new coronavirus strain, the EU-China agreement hasn’t made the front page of US news sources.

So, just curious, @Klaus @Nunatax @Wim @Moonbat if this is something that popped up on your radar screen and if you have an opinion on this.

Yes, it's not a big topic in the news.

I for one think that the agreement is a mistake.

If you don’t mind spending the time, I’d be interested to read more about why you think that’s a mistake. Thanks!

            1. China is a dictatorship that is a bad influence in the world. We shouldn't have agreements with such countries.
            2. It's going to piss off the US, which isn't a good thing either.

              My personal impression is: beware...
For more than 25 years China has silently been expanding its economical and military power at the expense of the US.
Europe should be watching very carefully what it will get from or loose to China. It's better to have a deal than no deal (cfr. Brexit), but the outcome is still an enigma to me.
And it wasn't a big topic in the news. Covid and Brexit seemed more important.
