    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/29/pierre-cardin-ground-breaking-fashion-designer-dies.html

Pierre Cardin, who during his more than seven decades in fashion brought geometric shapes to haute couture and put his name on everything from clothing to furniture to perfume to pens, died Tuesday. He was 98.

“The members of the Academy of Fine Arts announce with great sadness the death of their fellow member Pierre Cardin,” the elite French arts group tweeted.

Cardin died in a hospital in Neuilly in the west of Paris, his family told Agence France-Presse.

“It is a day of great sadness for all our family. Pierre Cardin is no more,” the family said in a statement. “We are all proud of his tenacious ambition and the daring he has shown throughout his life.”

Cardin went from the world of bespoke high fashion for private clients to ready-to-wear designs for the masses.

“They said pret-a-porter will kill your name, and it saved me,” Cardin once said.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I'm sure you heard as well that Tony Rice passed away on Christmas morning.

          I forgot to post that.

          Sad.

No, I missed that. To be honest, I'd never heard of him before.

@larry I'm surprised you're not familiar with Tony Rice was he was every bit as big a name and influence in Bluegrass music as Ricky Skaggs or just about anyone you can think of in that scene. Other than his own solo releases, I can't even begin to guess the number of recordings he appeared on alongside or backing other artists. His guitar picking skills rank him with the likes of the late Doc Watson and Clarence White. Certainly one of the most esteemed and best flat pickers of all time.

It's possible that I knew him by sight but just don't recognize him by name. My exposure to bluegrass was most all during my childhood days.
