Can public school punish students for speech made outside of school?

So far the lower courts ruled for the students — schools have no business disciplining students for speech they made outside of school.
I think that’s the right decision, and I hope the Supreme Court will leave that alone.

I can see both sides, but I agree - we have to ultimately come down on the side of First Amendment rights. Outside school it becomes a parental matter, in which I hope parents would have a backbone.
