@larry How do you figure other countries rolled it out before the U.S.? Other countries had working covid tests way faster than the U.S. too.
Not everything is connected to the American government.
Where in hell did you get the idea that I said ANYTHING AT ALL about other countries??????
Son, if that's the best you can get your brain to work you're in trouble.

The relevance of other countries is that pretty much every developed country has been able to fast track this as well. It's not some monumental accomplishment.
Your argument is that America is uniquely bureaucratic or no one but Trump would have been able to quarter-back a fast-tracked process for approval (for a once in XX years pandemic).
He made sure the government got out of the way for the vaccine. Great. He gets credit as the head of the bureaucracy. It's a nice bureaucratic accomplishment. The miracle here was getting the vaccine to work and manufacturing it.

Yeah, it's good, eh?
I was going to go to the store yesterday for a "moderate" shop. Screw it, I fired up Instacart, and had my groceries 2 ½ hours later.
Also, there's a table with a drawer in the outer lobby of our building where I'm going to start leaving the tip - in cash. I'll let the shopper know where to look.

The electoral college formally votes in Biden and the first Americans should be vaccinated.
It’s the unofficial beginning of 2021.
i so look forward to getting back to normal again. On both counts. That rollercoaster was a rough ride.

I see. The roadblocks that would have made that miracle impossible would have just miraculously melted away whether Trump did anything or not. Trump = nothing. Anything not Trump = miracle, everybody farts rose blossoms.
God I hope when I was your age I didn't think I knew it all the way you do. I just don't know what we would do without the wisdom of youth...

December 14, 2020.
Dear Jon,
Today, history was made when Sandra Lindsay, a frontline ICU nurse and New Yorker, became the first American to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in a non-trial setting. Sandra received the vaccination at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens. After her vaccination, I asked Sandra over Zoom how she felt and what she wanted to say to her fellow Americans. Her words speak for themselves:
"I am hopeful. I feel hope today—relieved. I feel like healing is coming and this marks the beginning of the end of a very painful time in our history. I want to instill public confidence that the vaccine is safe. We're in a pandemic and so we all need to do our part to put an end to the pandemic, and to not give up so soon. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but we still need to continue to wear our masks, to social distance. I believe in science. As a nurse, my practice is guided by science and so I trust that. What I don't trust is that, if I contract COVID, I don't know how it would impact me or those who I come in contact with, so I encourage everyone to take the vaccine."
She's absolutely right: Healing is coming. Thank you, Sandra.

Loved the write up about her in the NYT. I hope the vaccine skeptics listen to her message of the importance of getting the vaccine. It’s her most fervent wish and we should listen to her.
