The Holidays, During These Trying, Uncertain, and Unprecedented Times

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.
I don't know about you all, but I enjoyed the everloving shit out of Thanksgiving. Absolutely zero family drama of any kind. It was the nicest Thanksgiving I've had in many years. And Christmas will be very much the same.
Yes yes, it'll be nice when things go back to normal. All I'm saying is, it's going to take zero effort on my part to "make the most" out of not having to deal with assholes. That aspect of this year's holidays I'm going to thoroughly enjoy.

I hear you, but I’m a hermit at heart, so I love this. I happen to be married to a very outgoing and vivacious woman that loves family interaction. This is killing her. We have each other and Lucas and Finley, but so many people like her don’t. This is going to be a very dark holiday season.

This year I've really been trying to determine just how much of an introvert I really am. "Uncomfortable with crowds of people"? Not really, it's just that I don't like group conversations; they're by design more shallow. "Being social takes energy"? Well, I find meetings exhausting, say, because I can't freaking stand how people act in them. The entire group doesn't bat an eye at phrases like "cornerstone learnings" and "actionable takeaways" but my joke about Gerald Ford being clumsy is "not constructive"? What the fuck is wrong with you people? We just spent 90 minutes discussing how we're going to format another 90 minute meeting on how to use Microsoft motherfucking Teams.
I honestly think it's more a function of how much less of an overlap there is between me and most others. I think if people were more weird I'd probably be a lot less "introverted."
Anyway, I know this is driving a lot of people absolutely nuts, but I honestly do think reaching out more can help a ton. It's not the same as in-person, but I do think it helps.

Last Christmas we went to England, and visited Chester, Birmingham and London, I spent Christmas day with my mum, and had a week at my wonderful in-laws who treat us wonderfully.
This year is going to be a lot quieter, which is ok, but nowhere near as good.

We always travel over Christmas and almost always travel over thanksgiving so it’s no big deal being just the three of us.
I’m happy to report that when I do see my sisters on thanksgiving every now and then it’s all fun and no drama.
Can’t say the same about in-laws. Though it’s not that bad now that the MIL passed
