What's Joe's Plan?

What was expected of Trump?

Honestly, what is there to do that hasn't been done, other than to not botch things?
So, what is being expected from President elect Biden to say in regards to a COVID plan?
(P.S. WTF is up with that shrug emoji?)

To put his money where his mouth is. He’s been saying for months he has a plan.

Testing availability and quick results are not as easy as made out here. I will speak of my own account but have read that testing availability varies across the country. For instance, I know of no place or places in my area where one can just drive up to a street corner and get in a car line and get swabbed. To me, that should be available everywhere! Sure, there's your CVS's and other retails but you need an appointment. And good luck getting one same day you want to test. You can call your PCP and ask for test, and again, good luck coming right in that very day. They are all swamped.
So even after your test, you get to wait upwards of 72 hours to get any results. Yeah, quarantine is what you do right after the test to be a good citizen, but what percentage of people getting tested actually do that? I bet its less than 10.I tested 3 weeks ago after being at a function where one of the guests reported being positive the next day. And he got it bad, almost ER inpatient bad. He's still trying to get his wind back and he's a big beefy muscle man of around 45. Prison guard at Corcaran where he told tales of Covid there. 25 percent of inmates have it or had it. So I called /got online and had a devil of a time finding anything I could do that day I wanted to do it, which was 3 days after the function i attended. CVS was full booked for 2 days, and rather than scour the internet for other public options, I just decided to call my PCP and was lucky enough to come in next day, but not that day. Results 3 days later, with kind lady letting me know after taking a sample of my brain tissue through my nose, to go home and stay there until results come back.
Anyways, for me, the biggest flub of current administration was by not leading the cause in a national initiative, but instead throwing it off to the states and let them figure it all out. There should have been a bigger national effort, and truck loads of Treasury money, to get testing availability ramped up as quickly as possible so to be able to track down and control this virus. We still aren't there yet to this day. Trump wants herd immunity although he won't say it to your face.
So Biden better be making this thing, this testing thing, the priority numero uno, IMO. I will be sorely disappointed if this doesn't happen.
But, look at this article, if true, this should be the immediate plan, to get this out en masse, for free too. In home testing with immediate results. Curious to see how effective this at home kit currently is. FDA approved though. So we'll see.

I do agree with this.
But, as I have said before, if there was a Democrat in the White House a year ago, I’m not sure the situation today would be any different than it was under President Trump.
Getting back to nobodies sock point, it has been a shortcoming of the US. I know that states rights are very important in the US, but this is one instance where an internal situation required a national response. Again, you need 100% agreement of what to do. If 49 states do one thing but one state does another, the whole plan fails.
-
"Treasury money"..... leftists actually think government owns the money and there's an unlimited supply of it.
"Free covid tests"....
I've got no problem with offering free testing to the truly poor. But if you've got enough money to stop by McDonald's for a burger, then pay for it yourself.
And I don't like "one size fits all" programs, which is what a national program is. If there had been a national testing program then my state might have been saddled with a mess like it seems California faces. According to Sock he cant find any testing, and what little there is is substandard. I can get tested within one days notice, and get the results in 15 minutes. But then... I don't sit around waiting on the government to pay for it, either.

I do agree with this.
Who was that holding a daily news conference for months last Spring? They gave updates minute by minute on every aspect of the fight against covid.
They had the best and brightest of this country contributing ideas and action every day.
Saying the current administration didn't lead in this cause is nonsense.
The politicians and scientists were there working together around the clock. And all of it was shown on live TV or on various social media.
Denying that this was done is wrong.

Saying the current administration didn't lead in this cause is nonsense.
It is not nonsense. It was a very mixed message coming from Washington DC.
Masks/no masks - don’t know. good people on each side
Lockdown/don’t lockdown - don’t know. Good people on each side.
Etc.He should have said:
Masks - 100% of the time. No exceptions. You won’t see me without a mask. You come to a rally of mine without a mask, no entry. You take off your mask while at a rally of mine, you are escorted out. No exceptions.
Entering country - 14 day quarantine. No exception.Break it, you start over. Here is what you will put on your phone so we can check.
Good hygiene - do it
Social distance - no exceptions. I will practice what I say
Detailed Contact tracing - we will do it. I am doing it with people I contact with. Here is an app you need to download. As I have say before, in the US, there is not the cultural, political, or probably legal will or ability to do the above. I am convinced that if, for example, president elect Biden were president when this started, we would be in the same situation.
But, looking back, Copper, would it have been better to completely lock down for a couple of months and keep the bubble in place, and then return to some sort of “relatively “ normal or to do what has been done over the last 9 months? Shutdown for two weeks, open at 25%, close for a week, open for a week, close for 3 weeks, etc etc. Which is better?

"He should have said masks 100% of the time". That needs to be mentioned at the same time as another famous smear: "he doesn't follow science". Now for the facts: it was exactly because he WAS listening to the scientists that he was inconsistent about masks. The scientists - Fauci for example, initially said masks were useless. Then he said they weren't. Then he said they weren't necessary outdoors. Then he said they were. Then, using the "genius" of hindsight, those who default to blaming Trump for everything starts bitching about his use of masks.

Entering the country. We do a 14 day quarantine. As for putting something on our phones so the government can check... this is not Taiwan. You are accustomed to having limited rights and freedoms. This is the US. We are (for now) a free people.
Social distancing. We have been doing that from day one. The only ones who seem to think they don't need to are the democrat politicians who want to be dictators.
Good hygiene. We've done that from day one.
Detailed contact tracing. We do contact tracing here too. We just do it after someone is diagnosed with the China virus instead of requiring everyone to give up their freedom and rights whether they're sick or not.
We do not want to be Taiwan. I'm glad you like it, and feel comfortable with the constraints placed on you. But keep it in Taiwan.

@Larry Appreciate your response. I just think this was one of those cases, when the good of society, is more important than the good of the individual.
People give up freedoms every day, in the US, and in other countries.
I do believe, that the US is the most powerful, most developed, and probably the best country in the world.
That does not mean it is correct in everything it does 100% of the time. Not a good idea to say that, just because the US did it this way, it is the right way.
Did Taiwan or Thailand handle the situation to date better than the US? In some areas, I do believe that is the case.
Can the US learn from countries such as these going forward? I believe they can
Can other countries learn from the US? The answer to that is yes also.

Masks/no masks - don’t know. good people on each side
Lockdown/don’t lockdown - don’t know. Good people on each side.Lack of leadership is one thing
"Mixed message" is something completely different.
The message changed, every day, every minute in the beginning
Masks 100% of the time is ridiculous. It's a good thing he didn't say anything so ridiculous, trust was already hard to find.
Saying anything that obviously wrong would guarantee even fewer masks would be worn.
100%
That includes while I'm sleeping or when I'm all alone in my house in the shower. Is that it?
Suicides are at an all time high, millions are out of work, many small business owners are starving and will never recover.
And you want to make that even worse with a complete lockdown for months? That is evil, just plain evil.
How many suicides do you want to see before it is enough?
