Anybody watch "The Vow", a documentary about the nxivm cult? A guy named Keith Raniere started it. I actually knew his name 20 or so years ago because he was a minor celebrity within the high iq community, having scored very high on a very high ceiling test. Being a human male with a genius intellect, he created his own cult so he could fuck faces of whomever he wanted. Oh, boy, this documentary is pathetic. It says so much about humans.

    Education is extremely important.

But is it worth watching? Is it well done?

Sounds like your garden variety cult. They all have a leader who wants more sex.

I did not watch the show you are saying, but I did listen to a podcast on the cult. It was called Excaping NXIVM

It was quite interesting. I had never hear of the cult before.

When the story first came out, I found it hard to believe that a fair number of reasonably intelligent people could get duped into doing the things he asked of them; however, after learning their techniques, it is classic story of starting with small innocent requests and gradually elevating the level of commitment until there feels like there is no turning back. Still crazy - but at least I understood how they got there.
