Zinc is a stand-alone test. Often see it ordered with Mag levels. I think it's also found on Trace Metal tests.

Interesting. I do a monthly mag test (immunosuppressants decimate your levels) but haven’t had zinc tested as far as I can remember.

I played golf today with a guy who recovered from the covid.
He says he is fine, no symptoms. It is possible.

And then...Heard from the family of one of my wife's friends this morning. She's in ICU in Monroe and may not make it. Clotting in her lungs. She's 59.

(Hope you guys don't mind me posting these. I think, just for the sake of education, you can see what a mess this is. "Trav," by the way, is the guy she's living with. When she first got sick, she isolated. That was 7 weeks ago. He's been fine all along. "Cade" is Trav's 17 year old son.)

As I've mentioned, she lives in suburban Milwaukee. The attitude throughout the state, according to her, has been pretty blasé. She sees packed bars, no masks, etc. It really pisses her off, and as she texted, "karma's a bitch." Trav's ex has been particularly vocal about this being just a bad flu, and she plans on not getting vaccinated.
D2 has used the "C word" several times in reference to her.

This is about to get so much worse...

Very sorry that D2 and family are going through this ordeal.
Best of luck to her. -
@George-K I appreciate your sharing. The first person accounts are so interesting and I also I am now vested in your daughter’s recovery.

Please let her get out of the woods, completely out of the woods and into the open.
I scrolled to the beginning of this thread, Oct. 6. It all started with a bit of a sore throat, low-grade temp., and then we all started guessing on whether this was Covid, or not. And since we all love our George, we were rooting for the "not."
And it's Nov. 28th today.
Damn, what an awful disease that just won't go away and leave people alone! -

Jesus. That’s her boyfriend I assume?

Yup. She's been living with him for the last 2 years, and they've been in a relationship for 3 years - before she went to Fort Wayne for her internship.
When she got sick, 8 weeks ago, she self-isolated. After being afebrile, and two negative tests, she broke isolation. Because of BF's work, he gets tested frequently, and has always been asymptomatic and negative.
His ex is a real nut job. I'm not sure if she's an anti-vaxxer, but it wouldn't surprise me if she is. She's the typical Cheddarhead
denier. Their three sons are pretty much the same. They are aged 20, 17 and 10.
D2 is beside herself.
It's going to be an interesting 48 hours, to be sure.

Not good - very sorry to hear this. Hope it's not as tough as hers.

Wow, I’m sorry she’s still going through this ordeal. And now the boyfriend too.

BTW, BF's Mother and Father also tested positive. His Mom was OK, with mild symptoms. Father spent 2 days in the hospital and on O2. A few days ago, they were talking about intubation and ventilation.
He's home now, and I guess he's OK, or at least no sicker.
This is a fucked-up disease.

Dang, at least Lucas has the advantage of being young, hope he comes out of this okay.

Thanks, I’m confident he will be fine. He finds it pretty interesting right now, drinking and eating things that he can’t taste... But he is otherwise fine. No fever or other symptoms. He had felt a little tired on Thursday, but had been up to 3AM working on College Applications (and likely some video games with his friends) so we just chalked it up to that...
Having to put all of us in isolation right now will be difficult...
