    We're having pot roast.

The kids don't like turkey. I said 'all the more for me, then!' but apparently that's not good enough in this household.

I shall be drinking beer. The following day I have to drive my son to Kohl's at 5 freaking am in the freaking morning.

    I was only joking

      That sounds phenomenal.

What is two day gravy? (The gravy is my favorite part)

No clue but it looks good. Picked it all up today. If I was cooking it would probably be a roast rack of pork as I do not like cooking turkey.

        Lamb shank.
Haven't gone any further than that with my planning. 🤷

Wife will be gone for Thanksgiving, so dinner was Saturday, down at the church.

About 0800, I hung one of these:

The complete menu ended up being:
            Lamb shanks
            Asparagus
            Spinach
            Rice

                Herb-Cheese Mashed Potatoes

I could make a meal out of just that one!

                We had:
                --herb-cheese biscuits
                --cheesy mashed potatoes
--butternut squash, chard, and gruyère tart (my fave)
                --mac n cheese
--two pies: apple cranberry streusel, and blueberry struesel

My crusts turned out really good this year. Mac n cheese was somehow not cheesy enough 😕

That's just a stock photo. The one at the church is much nicer. It's tin roofed with a second small roof over the large one, allowing the fire a large area for draft. The building slab is probably 16x24. The ceiling has a I-beam with trolley and you can hang two 100 pound pigs on the gambrel stick, no problem.

One of the best small ones I've ever seen was a "pig mosque" one of my buddies built. An electrician by trade, he was very good at bending EMT. He pulled out a couple of joints and bent them into U-shapes using two trees as a bender. We then tack-welded supports between the two U's and then covered the sides and back with barn tin, using self-tapping screws. You'd hang your pig in front using an old swing set frame and the mosque was wide enough to use three foot wood .Very light and portable, the whole shebang would fit easily in the back of a pickup bed.

My wife's uncle has one of the best permanent buildings I've ever seen. He has a fire station built with 1/4" plate steel, made like a huge fireplace. We can use up to five foot wood. He has a track like you'd see in a slaughterhouse, so he can move his pig in or out. The pig roasts over expanded metal, with a drain for the grease. The rest of the building has a full kitchen with a full bathroom. The eating area is between the roasting area and the kitchen and can seat over 100, easily.

BTW, I just had the piano tuned in his kitchen. My wife's aunt wanted it done for Christmas. Only one of the nine kids have died and most of them are in their 80's and 90's. COVID be damned, they are going to burn a pig Christmas Eve, just like they've done for 50 years.

My Thanksgiving meal yesterday was awesome!

Mine: turkey, butternut squash, stuffing, pearl onions, jellied cranberry sauce, and clam chowder.

And for desert: chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, apple pie, sugar cookies, brownies and jelly rolls.

Now that I go back and read over the menu, it does sound a little ridiculous 😄 But yes, I do indeed.
