I read somewhere that there's been some discussion about auto insurance - if you're in an accident and you weren't driving for an "essential purpose" your auto 8nsurance will be invalid.

Just had a call with my brother. We are planning Thanksgiving at my house with the three brothers and spouses. We will all get tested as close as we can to the day and go from there.

I believe that was in Great Britain. Your insurance will not be invalid, but they will not cover any liability for that particular trip.

Skiing is already pegged as one of the leading causes of spread in Europe last February - March, by January - February half of the states will be shutdown again and closing non-essential businesses.

And no, we’re not going to go cross country skiing.

To the main point though, I don’t think they’ll have much luck tamping down thanksgiving celebrations but I can’t blame them for trying.

Think of it on a national scale - in a normal year some 55MM people travel by car to another destination for thanksgiving and a few million more by airplane.

Especially given where we are in the pandemic, it’s not hard to imagine Thanksgiving becoming the largest super spreader event of the year.

One of my cousins is building a new house, and we're all going there to have a combination house warming/thanksgiving dinner.

The UK lockdowns have been way more restrictive than anything in the US across the board, with the exception of school attendance, where I think pretty much all kids have been attending 5 days a week as normal.

They still managed to screw it up, of course - the perception is that a bunch of southern assholes have been allowing their own friends to get away with murder whilst they force the northerners to stay indoors.

Well, OK, that's the northerners perception.

                        I was only joking
