As people discover the actual cost of working...transportation, day care, eating out, etc., will we see a marked increase in SAHMs or SAHDs after things return to the new normal?

I think to Davis’ point in the rural discussion, this will roll off the backs of young people (eventually) and their aspirations will not significantly change.

When D4 had G2, she and her husband looked long and hard at the costs involved in having her continuing to work. As Jolly says, transportation, daycare, etc all add up. The only way that they would break even is if she worked full time. She elected to quit her job.

We have been a WAHD/SAHM combo for most of our lives.

Lady Phibes is SAHM. For some inexplicable reason, I'm just getting a subtle hint that she's not that mad keen on me being a WAHD on a longer-term basis.
