To extend or not?

The Sonata just rolled 100,000 and is now out of warranty on the powertrain. I did have a throttle body sensor repair which cost me $400 last month
Question: The dealer has offered an extended warranty, $2400 for 36 months/50,000 miles. Warranty has a $100 deductible for any repair.
Worth it? Or not?

Consumer Reports says that extended warranties are usually not worth it.
However, in my opinion, few people have the discipline to put aside the money and dedicate it for a future (big) repair.
On a car that has >100K miles, what are the odds that you'd need a repair that is more than $2400 in the next three years? Pretty high, in my uneducated opinion.

Annd...I disgaree. 100K is not a lot on modern cars. You should be able to look up your model here. There is an index on the right. I think you are betting against yourself and I know you have the money set aside to fix it if you need to.

Extended warranty often covers less than the original warranty 4/50000 for example. On expensive cars the rule of thumb is if you need new brakes maybe.
