Copper’s Virus-Killing Powers Were Known Even to the Ancients

Give you another one...We had double brass doors on the hospital. Heavy, art deco brass, supposedly now stored. Sure.
Anyway, the doors were there because not only were they beautiful when freshly shined, the original builders thought they were more sanitary. Turns out they were.
Stainless steel is not as good as we think.

Speaking of the old hospital...It landed on the historic register. Wish somebody would do something with it, seeing as how it still has 200 years on its planned lifespan.
We did have one architect feller from New York who dearly wanted the flowers on the front of the building. Each flower is different and is a native to Louisiana. The flowers are also solid bronze and I guess about six feet.

Why is brass more sanitary?

Bacteria and viruses don't do well on it. Not as good as copper, but better than stainless steel. Of course, when the hospital was built, I don't think they knew what a virus was....
