Forget fat tails, black swans, and anti-fragility. This is it:

I’ve never been to Vegas yet. Makes me want to go there less.

Over here, casinos won’t let you in unless you are wearing a proper suit.

Yeah. Monte Carlo certainly requires it.

Casinos are portrayed as very glamorous in (American) movies.

But my impression of (American) casinos is that mostly they are quite depressing.

I’ve once spent a week in a casino hotel in Reno. I agree with Ax’s assessment. All these empty emotionless faces in front of slot machines were depressing to look at.

I agree, but I am not a big gambling person. But actually, I think that most casinos are pretty much the same. (At least the ones I have been to)

First time I was in a casino, I was surprised that no clocks, no windows, etc., but then I realize that was part of the marketing. They dont want you to know the time.

Yep. Been to them in Vegas, Tahoe, Reno, cruise ships and various localities. All about the same. Not necessarily depressing, but just rather....nothing, vacuous. I just cannot view playing a game that is rigged against me from the start as fun.

I've been to them in Vegas, Atlantic City, Monte Carlo, Punta del Este, and Macau.

Monte Carlo was truly classy. Macau and Punta were high end as well, though you got the feeling it was more a local norm rather than strict rules that kept out the guys in shorts. Macau has the very same casinos you see in Vegas.

Vegas and Atlantic City are, well, Vegas and Atlantic City.
