I have no idea what it was, if it was really there at all.
But, for the sake of argument, if the video is accurate, what need does a debater have for anything like that, wired or not?

Why would he have a microphone? Would make somewhat sense if he had an earpiece, but I can just imagine him saying something and the moderator says, "Sorry, Vice President Biden, I did not hear that"

No idea. Maybe one of his aides is super deaf.
But probably one of those pictures that in one frame looks suspicious, but when you look again, it is harmless. Like the Loch Ness picture, etc.
