I remember distributing software on floppies. At that time drive assignments for files were hard coded in the software. We had lots of problems figuring out whether to send the hard drive or two floppy drive version out until I wrote a batch file to see if the C drive existed. We could send both out on the same disk and let the batch file figure out which to install. Seemed like a big leap at the time.

Like distributing a modern operating system software using 138 floppy disks. But if all your consumers read only floppy disks, you just have to break up your software into 138 floppies.

I still remember when I first got my hands on a copy of Unix System V. Must have been ~1990. It was on more than 60 5.25 inch floppy drives. Man, that was the shit. It's command line interface is still decades ahead of a 2020 Windows.

Still too complicated. How about, say, "We are fucked but maybe not"? On that level of discourse, I could maybe begin to understand it.
