Mrs. George was taking it for spinal pain issues. It did nothing.

I read somewhere that it has mixed results. Sometimes it does nothing. Sometimes it helps a lot.

Nothing to add about the medicine, but will send good thoughts to you and Sarah!

Mark, I'm so sorry to hear Sarah is still having these problems. I have no info to add regarding this medication, but I sure hope it helps.

It must be very frustrating for you to not be able to ask the doctor questions directly. Would Sarah benefit from having a list of questions to ask during her medical consultations? That can be an important thing for anyone to do before an appointment. The time goes so quickly, and it's really difficult to remember all the things to ask about. More people should do this, but they are reluctant to do so. They need to get over it, make their list, and get the most out of their appointment time.

This part is where you can help Sarah. You can add your own questions to the list to cover things she might not think to ask. These mini-strokes can cause thinking and problem solving issues. She may need help to better communicate with her doctors, and they may not realize it, unless they knew her before she had the small strokes.

Follow up to what Brenda suggest. Could you also maybe have Sarah put you on speakerphone when she is discussing with the doctor?

                  Excellent idea.

I've been to several doctors' visits with Mrs. George since this all started. I always see the doc with her. The only exception is when she had her shoulder replaced in early August.

Yeah, I've taken it for a while. Helped with the weird tingling sensations down my right leg, like when your leg or foot falls asleep and then starts to wake up.

Strange drug. I will look at something, and it looks like it's moving. If I look at a light bulb, it looks as if the bulb is slowly bouncing up and down.

My mom was on an opioid years ago, seemed to make the pain worse. Doc stopped the opioid and started gabapentin, it worked great. I agree that it's one of those drugs that works really well for some people, not much benefit to others.
I graduated to pregabalin, at least that's what I think it is called. Generic for Lyrica. George or Bach will certainly correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as I know, gabapentin is harmless i.e., no serious side effects. Not sure how it interacts with other drugs, which I would think would be a good question to ask.

Thanks everyone. So far it has done nothing. Does it take a while to work?

Yes! You need to be on it for several days, and your doctor may increase dosage as time goes on.
It's not like a Tylenol, as if it starts working in a couple of hours. It needs to build up in your system. And again, George and Bach can step in if I've stated anything incorrectly.
