His bestie's dad drives one. They will accelerate well but without that growl. Not the same.

    Style over substance, then.

When I drove the 'Vette, I was impressed with the sound and growl. That's purely psychological, of course. If it sounds more powerful, it must be more powerful. Numbers be damned.

As D'Oh (remember him?), or was it Klaus, commented on TOCR, there's a lot of money spent on tuning the sound of the exhaust and engine. Never understood that, and you can get off my lawn.

For the record it fits in the garage fine.

        Man, that redefines cool!
So I'm curious. When you lay down at night to go to sleep, in the back of your mind, isn't there a little bit of "damn, maybe I should just buy one." ??
I would just dwell on it, until I somehow rationalized buying one, or even leasing. To hell with common sense.

Not really. It’s so damn impractical. I am thinking about a new car though. But I need to carry bikes on it.

But maybe I’ll rent something awesome every couple of months while the boy is in this phase and we aren’t traveling.

I'd be willing to lend you my Ford Focus weekends for a very reasonable price. It's a chick magnet.

Dude, I gave you an SUV that will outrun the Vette, 0-60. Don't know top end speed, but my DIL's with the same engine supposedly can do 200 mph (she's only had it up to 160).

Funny thing is we had signed up to rent a hellcat. The boy has been in a Camaro SS and a Mustang GT (Both in Miami in Feb) and wanted the American Muscle trifecta. They called me after I reserved and said they didn’t have the Dodge but could give me the vette for 50$ more.

By the way, the boy and I saw the C8 today, mid-engine.

                    It was sweet looking.

My son says 'he's driving it like it's a Prius though'. lol

                      You've raised him well.

I was behind a Prius yesterday. He was doing 31 mph.

                      Speed limit was 40..😠

I have for decades been a left lane type A driver. Ever since I retired I have eschewed that sort of thing. Just not in any hurry.

Supposedly Lincoln will be offering an all new Town Car in the 2021 lineup. I've heard it will have suicide doors, also reportedly the 2021 model year will have an updated Continental, and one that I'll be buying if they actually do it - a Mark IX !!

Where's the fun in that? 😄

I drive too fast, but often just to go with flow, which is safer IMO. I just roll along with all the other criminals.

Looking good! I think this model looks great. Almost as good as a current Ferrari.

Oddly enough I am a bit of a purist and like the last model that had pop up headlights - even though the interior is sooooo 90's aero, smooth, and round.

Because I am jonesing so bad for a convertible, I have been thinking about a '96-02 Corvette, or a '68-74 if I could get one in my budget. Preferably with chrome bumpers.

A used Miata is a blast to drive and they are pretty reliable. The standard is harder to find than the auto. The older ones are starting to achieve a following and you see them advertised in Hemmings nowadays.

Sadly, most Miatas already have 150-250k miles on them, because they were loved so much.

I was at a car show a couple years ago and expressed admiration for a late 50's 'Vette. The guy let me sit in it. I was pretty shocked as most people have a fit if you even breathe on their car at a show. It was a model prior to roll up windows but I was shocked it had about as much shoulder room as an MG Midget.
