The sadness never leaves, really. Too young, too brave

Thanks for the reminder. It seems horrific that so many of the best of us are lost in such a way.

RIP, Soldier.
I remember you posting about his injuries back when it happened, as well as the updates on his status.
Sending a salute and a hug your way.

Wow. Can’t believe it’s been 13 years. What a horrible thing for a family not go through.
My sister lost a child, not to war. They don’t go a day without thinking of her and it’s been 19 years.

+1. It's a terrible tragedy, but he was doing some good already, and that's more than many could say at that age.

Better to have lived a short life with meaning, than a long one devoid of substance.
Rangers lead the way!
That's not just an expression...

It was 13 years ago today, we buried my nephew, Army Ranger Captain Drew Jensen. I can't believe it was so many years ago, I remember posting on this forum the months he spent paralyzed from the neck down, and finally received approval to have life suppor disconnected. For those that weren't on this forum at the time, he was shot by a sniper in Ballad, Iraq, while trying to help another wounded soldier. Sad memory, he would have made a difference in this world, that's the kind of young man he was.
All you retired guys actually had to work for a living back then.
And I hate to do the math of how old we will all be 13 years from now.
Fortunately, I can't do math with such big numbers, impossible.wrote on 8 Sept 2020, 00:54 last edited by -

Rainman, this was before I joined the forum, so it's the first time I've known. How sad for everyone in your family. My condolences to you all.
