The order, issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), would make it illegal to evict any individual who expects to make less than $99,000 or a joint-filing couple that expects to make less than $198,000 in 2020. The tenants would still be required to pay rent owed per the terms of the lease, but will be allowed to stay in their unit through the end of the year.

I used to toy with the idea of being a landlord by keeping my previous home and renting it out after I buy a new home. Omg am I never ever going to do that.

How does CDC have authority to do that?

State laws vary greatly in terms of who has more leverage—landlords vs tenants. My understanding of California is, don't rent out a house in California.

I own a lot of rental properties. If I tell you to get out, you will get out.

I guess November 4th was too obvious.
