It's certainly no fun to use anymore. My feed seems to just be an endless stream of crap. Occasionally, somebody I know posts something, but not often.

    I was only joking

From the perspective of my kids, having a FB account is a completely absurd idea.

I deleted my FB account around 5 years ago and never missed it.

For different reasons though. All the complaints I have about FB are as bad or worse with TikTok, instagram, etc.

            Still, https://investor.atmeta.com/investor-news/press-release-details/2026/Meta-Reports-First-Quarter-2026-Results/default.aspx

1Q 2026 Facebook reported: "Revenue was $56.31 billion, an increase of 33% year-over-year."

            That's a heck of a "death spiral."

It's worth noting that the claim is based on article from The Failing New York Times, another organisation who's imminent death may have been a little exaggerated.

I thought that very thing. In 21 years it has remained commercial and scammer free.

That’s meta not Facebook and they own 5 different social media platforms. (Well, 4 plus WhatsApp)

If you hit the friends button, you get the latest from the feeds of the people you follow. You still get some ads, but not nearly as much annoying stuff.alt text
My kids have deleted all their social media accounts. I’m having a harder time letting go, I really do enjoy seeing what old friends are up to. And I share a lot of what I’m doing in the art and clay studio on Instagram. My son calls those little hearts dopamine hits. 😄

That works great on the iPhone but not on laptop.

So it’s just one more click. On left hand side under your name (enlarge the window so it shows up), scroll down and click feeds. Then click friends. You still get ads, but you get your friends latest posts.

😁@jon-nyc . Kid one is in the mental health field and quit long ago for issues it causes. Kid two works in big tech, and has pretty much decided being active on most social media platforms is a mistake both personally and professionally, for mental health and security reasons.

Yeah the downside is you don’t see your groups in that mode and every time you come back to Facebook it defaults you to the shit feed again.

But still, it makes it useable.

Depends what you want to see at that moment. I do get some current information there, if it’s a credible source.
