Don’t you hate it when your yacht is just too big?

A source tells Page Six that Jeff Bezos is quietly shopping his $500 million floating palace, Koru — because it’s just too huge to manage.

The jaw-dropping vessel also has a $75 million support ship, Abeona, though it is unclear if this is part of the deal. According to reports, it costs $30 million per year to operate the two ships together. (Not that that’s a burden for the “250 Billion Dollar Man,” but it may make buyers scarce.)

It fairly boggles the mind, doesn’t it?

I got a bit of an education in the very lucrative business of government in Annapolis harbor. There were so many multimillion dollar yachts- hundreds of them.

My heart bleeds for his troubles.

I'm a total landlubber but found that article truly irritating for the way it occasionally used 'boat' (and even 'yacht') to describe such a large multi-masted ocean going ship.

        It's a ship.

And not to be too much of a complaining pedant, yes it is also a yacht, but isn't a far better description something like 'three-masted schooner?
It's more like a tea clipper than your average yacht!

Fabulous ship, one of the good things of having ridiculously wealthy individuals is that things like this are built.

I'm enjoying "Your Friends and Neighbors" on Apple TV. There's a scene where the protagonist talks about yachts and their relative sizes and status. Funny.

          I love you long time.

I suppose, like most of us, it's only natural for Bezos to want to downsize as he ages. 🤷

If you’re Bezos and find the upkeep on your yacht to be too much that doesn’t leave a lot of buyers.

Wasn't the money obviously, but I guess the time and attention he had to devote to thinking about the boat was too much of an investment.

He can gift it to the Trump Presidential Library, like what the Qataris did with that Boeing 747.

I guess i understand that people like to own things, and for him, the money is probalby the same as me buying a bicycle, but.........

How much use does he really get out of it? Couple of weeks a year? Maybe a month max? Why not rent a private yatch for the week that he needs a boat. I am guessing he could get a pretty nice one for a $1MM/week.

In case he is here on this forum under a different name, here are some potential rents.

Huge yachts are particularly funny to me, not that I wouldn't like to experience them maybe once. But at the end of the day it can't be any nicer than a nice hotel room. Or, perish the thought, a nice stay in your own luxurious home. The view and whatever magical feeling you might get from being on the ocean (and I'm very sure that passes quickly) is the only difference.
