My US passport is running out 1Q next year. Should find a good time frame to renew now. LOL

(I miss the days of being able to renew at any US embassey) But I have heard that the new-ish online renewal is actually pretty quick.

I just renewed mine. Did it online, took the photo on my phone. Got both the book and the card, it came much faster than I thought it would, not much more than a couple of weeks.

You'll probably want to do it again once Trump's picture is on there in all its majesty.

I'm not even eligible to get a US passport, and I'm thinking of applying.

I’m getting the photo taken tomorrow and renewing online tomorrow night. Mine literally expires a year from yesterday.

Time for me as well - though I could also obtain a Canadian passport if necessary.

Fortunately, it appears that this new passport is not going to be the default. From what I have hear, it will only be available to people walking into the Washington DC passport agency and only for a limited time.

I think if you go through other ways to get a new/renewed passport, it will still be the normal one.
