New glasses

I compared the sizing by measuring my current glasses, which are similar in shape and comparing them to the specs on the new frames. It was pretty easy.

I don't know how well the frames will last, but at this price I can replace them every year.

We have been using Zeni for many years now. I went with the Optometrist offering this time because it's the first time I have had vision insurance since the 1980s.

That's right! You have a JOB!!!! How's it going?

I retired in 2019 but couldn't stand the lack of routine, so I've been consulting part time for one client. On my fourth year there. I really needed the action and the mental challenge. I love it, I love my team, fascinating work - a lot of it genetic stuff - best gig ever. Haven't taken a single dollar out of investments, other than cashing in some Huntington stock my dad left me for a constuction project.

Just asking: is this near or far? My seeing far got to 90ish percent by getting old and my near is taken care of by the Dollar Store (150+ to 200+).

What are you buying and why should I have it?

All around, progressive lenses that act like bifocals. If you are fine for driving etc. with Dollar store cheaters, by all means don't spend even $200. That would pay for one hooker and one gram.

(It'd be kind of a Dollar Store hooker, but at this age, how much do we really need?)

I don't need glasses for driving. I did, but the last time I took the test I passes it without glasses. My reading glasses have gone from 100+ to 200+. Dollar store hookers...hmmmm. Me and Bill Clinton are kind of in the same situation.

@mik The job is going well. 90%+ WFH. IT Support and a little development work here and there. Working for someone else is not my ideal position but it pays the bills and provides excellent health insurance.

I know this because I was happy that I didn’t need driving glasses until my optometrist popped that balloon.

Yeah, I had one eye done, the left eye hasn't progressed far enough yet. Surprising since I had the right done in 2019. But I'm sure it will. The surgery is no big deal. The eyedrops after are a pain in the ass.
