That is fascinating and worth sharing. Thanks, bach. How are things over there?

When a Mexican restaurant does ramen ...

                mexican-ramen.jpg

I went into a new (at least to me) Mexican restaurant and surprised to find a ramen dish on the menu. First time I have ever sees a ramen dish in a Mexican restaurant. So I tried it. It looked scary red, as if it's going be off-the-chart spicy hot, but turned out it's quite mild. Flavorful, yes, but not spicy hot.

It's shredded beef on top of ramen noodle in deep red broth, served with two birria rolls on the side (beef and cheese inside). The birria rolls were supposed to be crispy (I believe), but they were somewhat limp and soggy, so that's a bit disappointing to me. Still tasty though, and the ramen itself was certainly mild and interesting.

The Ramen Bar that Lucas loves recently came out with a Birria Ramen that I quite like. The ramen is a little thicker and heartier than the normal ramen, and they include cilantro, red onion, scallions, and lime. I add an egg to it. Quite tasty.

1 litre of crude oil contains more hydrogen atoms than 1 litre of pure liquid hydrogen. That sounds impossible, but it’s true.

Doesn’t sound impossible if you express that same comparison by weight rather than volume.

Interesting in that one would think the temperatures liquid hydrogen must be kept it that it would shrink the atoms spatially and so concentrating them. But maybe it is like water, which expands when frozen.

                            Nope. It doesn't.

Hydrogen does not expand when cooled to temperatures that make it liquid; instead, it contracts as it transitions from a gas to a liquid state. Liquid hydrogen exists at extremely low temperatures, specifically below -253°C (-423°F) at atmospheric pressure.

One liter of crude oil contains a complex mixture of hydrocarbons, which are compounds made up of hydrogen and carbon atoms, resulting in a higher number of hydrogen atoms compared to one liter of liquid hydrogen, which consists solely of hydrogen molecules (H2). Since hydrocarbons in crude oil can have multiple hydrogen atoms per molecule, the total count of hydrogen atoms in crude oil is significantly greater.

On a related note, a liter of water contains 600 times more oxygen than a liter of pure oxygen.

On another related note, the fact that water expands when frozen, and thus floats in unfrozen water, is one of the many accidents of physics that was necessary for the formation of life on Earth. I can't remember why, but I'm sure we can all use an LLM for more details.
