A woman who police believed was the shooter was found dead, apparently from a self-inflicted wound, police said. The motive remained unclear.
"Woman". That's one way to even the gender statistics for mass shooters.

He murdered nine people. Seven of whom were children aged 11 to 13; two adults, one a teacher (or teacher’s aid), the other, his own mother. Two, including a 12 year old girl with 2 bullet wounds - one in the neck and the other through her brain stem and clinging to life - remain in hospital ICU in Vancouver.
I am not prepared to engage anyone in discussing the dead monster’s self image or the politics of gender reassignment. Suffice to say he was born a male human and died a male subhuman.
I am far more interested at present in how and from whom he obtained the firearms and ammunition.
