    https://www.thesun.ie/news/16514455/dog-owner-brutally-beaten-kangaroo-pet/

A DOG OWNER in Australia is “lucky to be alive” after being beaten within an inch of his life by a kangaroo while trying to rescue his pet.

Col was staying with a friend in Victoria when he heard his beloved pup frantically barking.

When he went outside, he was greeted by the sight of a kangaroo trying to drown his seven-year-old dog in a nearby dam.

“The kangaroo was trying to grab [my dog], so I got a stick and hit him,” he told 3AW.

At this point the marsupial retreated, making Col think he was in the clear.

When he turned around, he saw the kangaroo suddenly charging towards him.

“He’s come out of the water like a blood rocket and headbutted me in the face and then punched the crap out of me,” he said.

“We hit heads and when I stood up to run away, he’s given me what I would describe as a flying roundhouse to the back.

‘He’s jumped on me and his gremlin hands have grabbed my head and booted the s**t out of me.

He’s very lucky. Kangaroos have been known to eviscerate humans with their back legs. You don’t want to tangle with one any more than you would want to take on a grizzly or a lion.

        Elbows up!

Confronting wild creatures as big or bigger than oneself seldom ends well.
