I get why she tried. Skiing has been her life. It seems as she is still close to the top of skiers but also knows that this was almost 100% her last chance.

I remember watching a documentary about her maybe 15 years ago, and feeling that she was driven to what seemed like an unhealthy extent. I guess you have to be to excel at the level that she did. Her relationship with her father also seemed less than ideal.
