Currently, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) says there are 93 potential host locations that have the winter sports infrastructure needed to host the games. That includes arenas for events like hockey and ice skating and areas for snow sports outside of a big city.
If countries continue with their current climate policies, though, that number drops to 52 locations that would remain “climate-reliable” for the Winter Olympics by 2050, according to the study, which was published in the journal Current Issues in Tourism.
For the Paralympics, which occur in March after the Olympics in February, the situation is even more dire: By 2050, there are only 22 potential host locations.

Most of the Olympic events do not truly require contestants to congregate to compete. (E.g., runners can be clocked running in different places at different times than compare results later to determine who wins; ditto swimmers, track-and-fielders, weightlifters, etc.). Building all these large scale infrastructures and flying athletes around the world are mostly unnecessary and contribute to climate change.
Just let the Olympics die. It's not necessary for humanity.

Wait, let me get this straight… The IOC (one of the most corrupt organizations in the world) commissioned a study that says if we don’t stop driving to work, then they will have fewer cities bribe them to let them build expansive new athletic venues that will only support a single event, ever, where thousands of athletes and millions of spectators will be flown from around the world to watch?
No hypocrisy, there…
