Pell grants expanding to cover shorter training and retraining programs

Heard about this on NPR this morning. Very good idea. The charity I founded is doing the same - making students going to trade or tech schools and the like eligible for our scholarships.

Trade schools were already covered by Pell. This is covering very short term training programs (8 weeks instead of 15 week). I’ve been advocating for this for years, and if you truly want the Pell Grant to have an impact on poverty, remove 4 year colleges eligibility for Freshmen. MAKE the recipients have a vocational training degree in hand before exploring 4 year colleges eligibility degrees.
