That actually makes sense. Iron City was pretty big then, and I.C. Light was targeted toward "younger customers" (read: teens). And it worked.

I started Stranger Things when it first came out. I think I'd watched about 3 episodes before I gave up. Just didn't grab me.

Not the right demographic. It's not Boomer Things.
Seriously though the show is targeted explicitly toward a specific demographic.

Except Iron City was a regional beer. You just happened to live within it’s region. I’m pretty sure that commemorative Pittsburgh Pirate Cans weren’t big sellers in Indiana.

They owned breweries in Ohio at that time. Not impossible to see the cans in Indiana.

Iron City was based in Pittsburgh, so they made cans for the Pirates. But they weren't just sold in Pittsburgh.
I'm just saying it's a stretch but I buy it. Minor detail that could've been sharper but was in the ballpark.
What gets me is Vecna. He's the D&D allegory for Season 4, but kids in the 80s wouldn't have known him at all. He didn't show up in any campaigns until 1990. This is Stranger Things writers knowing that D&D nerds watch the show, and they're referencing Joe Manganiello's 2019 contribution to the Vecna story for fan service.

My only problem is a young El suddenly having much broader vocabulary.

I really liked it from the beginning, but probably because it's right in my era. IIRC it was set in 1983, right when I was in college. Love seeing all the nostalgic references.

Got to say, we feel like we're losing steam as we watch the 4th season. We liked the first couple of seasons.
TChanging focus - The series I was disappointed with was the Sarah Conoor Chronicles. The concept was good - but the writing was uneven and direction was weak. Still, I wished they had finished it.

I watched a couple episodes over Christmas. Meh. Reminds me of Lost vapid and spins and really goes nowhere.

They had 3 years to get it right… I wonder if that was actually too long? They were reportedly still writing the last episode during filming. Maybe they had too many ideas and got indecisive?
