Interesting how so much news is not about 99.7% of the infected population but the unicorns. It’s fascinating.

What would that headline be? "Things mostly okay, don't worry about the outliers and carry on"? "So many people live through the virus that there's statistically no threat in general"? What kind of message is that?

Loki would like to remind everyone that this is a mostly peaceful virus.
So peaceful survey says 40% of kids are deferring college acceptance this year. Colleges are like no problem, no revenue problem at all because they can just print money. Everyone wins!

What does that have to do with the relevance of reinfected numbers? Are you suggesting we put blinders on because scientific updates are bad for the economy?

8 billion people on the planet, 1 reinfected person in 7 months. It’s interesting but no need for further panic.
In case you are interested here is the college survey, must be lots of layoffs coming and everyone serving colleges has to recast revenue and staffing.

I'm completely unmoved. I'm neck-deep in my own shit right now, and yeah, the pandemic has contributed significantly to that. I'm not saying that economic effects aren't important, just that I don't really have the emotional RAM required to worry about that just now.
I think the difference is that some people prefer to freak out over the pandemic, which drives some headlines, and others prefer to freak out over the economy, which drives others.

I predict again that once Biden is elected the narrative will change again and it will be about returning to normal life and freaking out about the pandemic will take a back seat. I will be right or wrong in less than two months.

Fair enough. Won't change my plans any.

From the original article:
"The second infection appears to be a slightly different virus strain from the initial one, the researchers said."So, that is either good news, or horrible news.
Does it mean that "different virus strain" in this case happens to be relatively benign, and that tomorrow a "different virus strain" could be much worse than the original? Are a variety of different strains of virus a normality 8-months out?
I'm asking more questions than Ax. But I really dislike sentences which lead to obvious questions, which are not answered in an article.
Asymptomatic relapse from a different strain, like, why should I care, it's not like the initial potential death sentence from testing positive.

1 guy was reinfected, and he remains asymptomatic
That is roughly .000000004 % of total cases
To bad for the 1 guy, who feels fine
I say that we should take no action based on this case

Seems like it’s more than one, but this is the first to be definitively shown by sequencing both viruses. But I agree there’s no particular action to be taken on this.
