AN ANATOMY OF THE MAGA MIND

Under Trump, post-liberal intellectuals have abandoned tradition for radicalism and scholarship for vulgarity.

    Discuss.

It’s just the pendulum swinging back too far. Five years ago you couldn’t say master bedroom or blacklist and now you can say ‘normalize Indian hate’ and the vice president defends you.

Hopefully we’ll get back to some sane middle sometime soon.

It's Atlantic. They have water on the brain.

          Fixed. Good luck with that.

The middle isn't by definition sane, it's only by definition the center of the Overton window, and thus the safest socially.

In those terms Id say the middle of the Overton window is already where I want it - most people don't recoil at 'blacklist' and do recoil at 'normalize Indian Hate'. My real hope is that the Overton window edges move back to a place where 'normalize Indian hate' was something you might think but not say and 'master bedroom' is something you can say anytime anywhere.

A vulgar president is nothing new.

The 2-bit thug and his team were consistently vulgar.

So was LBJ, and Mr. Nixon but that is no surprise for Navy men.

I think George W. Bush got a bad rap concerning vulgarity, he was Air National Guard.
