Germany’s identity crisis: The trains no longer run on time

Germans are deeply frustrated over a train system that is falling apart, undermining the punctuality that has long been core to Germany’s national self-image.

... 56 percent of trains arrive within six minutes of the scheduled time — which is the cushion Deutsche Bahn, the national railroad company, allows itself for an “on-time” arrival.

@Klaus has only left Germany for a little while and see what happened.

A favorite saying among old people used to be "At least the trains where on time when Adolf was the boss".

Under our current leadership, the trains run 8000% more on time than they used to and actually arrive 2 hours before they set off.

          I was only joking

@Doctor-Phibes said in German Trains - Now Only 56% Run On Time:

Under the present circumstances, that sounds perfectly reasonable.

              Elbows up!

By the way in the US that character is called “Sir Topham Hatt” for anyone confused about who The Fat Controller (the original name) is.
