It's very normal for politics to turn average people sociopathic. It's how the human mind is designed to operate. My favorite is when people who are convinced they're above it all due to their virtue, use that conceit to conclude that the people beneath them really don't matter. That mode of mob sociopathy is painfully normal and can be observed anywhere. I'll bet CHOP was filled with such people.
