One of my neighbors worked for Duke Energy for 36 years. Yesterday a guy was going around the neighborhood door to door trying to get people to switch to an alternate supplier, IGS. She got his card from another neighbor to report him after she just roasted his ass. Too much fun. This is exactly why I buy nothing from anyone other than school kids who knock on my door.

When he told me he was with Duke Energy (where I worked 36 years) I knew it was a lie.

Other lies - I failed to respond to a letter from Duke two months ago asking me to switch providers by end of this week because they are running out of power. If I signed today with him I’d get to keep power in my residence. I was guaranteed huge savings because Duke has to raise rates to build more plants.

Had fun asking questions like - would he guarantee my savings in writing (no), at what rate will my contract renew (unknown but promised I save money), what is the penalty if I terminate contract early (none), why does what he’s telling me differ from what’s listed on the PUCO apples to apples website (blank stare), why would our area run out of power when there’s interoperability with the new Socialville-Foster substation (his eyes got big), if Duke doesn’t have power where are your generating plants and are they hydro, gas …(he starts backing up), if suppliers are in business to save people money, why do they lock people into the contract if they don’t cancel in writing by their renewal date tripling rates and not letting them terminate until the next term?

At this point I asked for his card and told him it was illegal to provide incorrect information. He started running backwards and almost fell off my porch. The PUCO gets complaints but few specifics to take action. I consider it my lucky day this happened to me since I have facts to report. Thank you!

      Nice.

      Only non-witches get due process.

        LOL

Yes, electricity for each company is in a big barrel and when it runs out, the company has no more power.

To give them hope for a career in door-to-door sales, only to have that dashed once they get out of school. 😈

Mik used to buy from a door to door salesman, but the guy only came by after 11PM…

Actually, considering the “hide the USB” thread, it’s more likely Mik WAS the door to door salesperson that showed up after 11…
