I am appalled.

I just got a text stating it was from the Yost campaign stating that he wants to restore capital punishment in Ohio and restart executions. I was leaning toward AG Yost, but not now. I mean, it's so early and he's leading with that? Really? He's got nothing better and more important to offer?
Michael,
For far too long, politicians and judges who are against capital punishment have disrespected the longstanding law of our country.
This is Conservative Attorney General Dave Yost. These past six years defending Ohio have been an honor. Now, I am pleased to announce that I will be running for Governor of Ohio.
As your next Republican Governor, I will personally see that with the help of Attorney General Pam Bondi and President Donald Trump, capital punishment be restored in Ohio.
I will not sit on the sidelines while justice is deferred and the death penalty is not enforced.
The only three executions in Ohio set for 2025 have been postponed. This is unacceptable.
Capital punishment is the law in Ohio, and it's past time we follow the law. So before the day is over, can I humbly ask you to please join me in this fight to protect the citizens of Ohio and restore capital punishment?
We don't have a second to waste: win26.co/aabaCPv8
Thank you for your time and support,
Dave Yost

Wokeness and its fellow traveler ideas are all important till the economy goes in the isolationist shitter, like after universal tariffs or some other ridiculous scenario. I don't know if that playbook will work too well for him. Maybe it's a differentiator from Vivek? I don't know Vivek's opinion on capital punishment.

Why would he need their help? It's Ohio law and he's the governor, in the hypothetical anyway.

Just in case the text you received is a false flag campaign or some other scam, have you checked on the official campaign website, or some other public statements by Yost, that indeed Yost intends to restore capital punishment in Ohio?
These days I just completely ignore all campaign text messages and emails, as the technology has no way of assuring me that these text messages and emails actually come from the campaigns or the candidates.

Yes, of course. That was my first thought because it’s such an unfortunate position to lead with. Either he’s an idiot or he has idiot advisors. Maybe both.
