I don't want to live in NK either.

I saw a couple days ago where Trump was presenting his cabinet, in the oval office. They all gave self-introductions, and each was more obsequious than the last towards their leader. I thought it was gross, and an obvious departure from how cabinets from prior administrations would have felt compelled to speak. But I don't think it means we're living in NK.

I think that's what's known as hyperbole, H. Nobody actually thinks we're going to live in North Korea.

Apart from anything else, Trump couldn't handle the spicy food.

    I was only joking

I’ll bet he wasn’t seriously thinking United would cancel all its international arrivals to IAD either.

He probably doesn't think Mr. Cheung has Trump's spunk in his hair either.

"He's a fascist" is firmly entrenched as a serious talking point on the left, so it's difficult to claim too much hyperbole.

          Education is extremely important.

It's pretty obvious how many people on the right are eating Trump's ass. I feel oddly compelled to point out that I don't mean this literally.

Actually I’m less sure about that one.

Any slippery slope argument can be framed as "obvious hyperbole", but that's not really how they operate rhetorically. The bottom of the slope is a seriously contemplated future.

I think his overall point is not a slippery slope argument. It’s that Trump fans that appreciate him should be more like him and be able to call out shit when they smell it. Be like Joe Rogan, not the Fox News guy that is marching to Canada with his gun collection in tow.

My current perspective on Trump is that directly or indirectly, he decisively won the culture war, and now I hope to contain the damage his departures from reality may cause, especially pertaining to the trade wars. When I see right-wing media still fixated on culture war stuff, especially men in women's sports, I get a sinking feeling that there are way more important things to discuss than previous victories.

Enh. So, I have a daughter (all grown up and out before any of this stuff was happening) but she was into completive swimming and diving in high school and college. I would have taken her out of her sports if there was some 6' 4" guy walking around her shower with his scholong out. While not on the most important things on the national level, it means a lot to me that a woman's spaces are respected. Plenty like me out there too.

See, the way the school systems completely usurped parental rights and took it upon themselves to make medical and psychological health decisions for the children in their charge while keeping it hidden from parents or even directly contradicting them? That’s just pure evil. And when the entire system (administrative, legislative, and judicial) was twisted and manipulated to promulgate this bizarre experiment on our children goes far beyond just having a dude in women’s sports. That’s why I really don’t have a problem with them going in to completely dismantle the current administrative state. Department of Education? Promoted this crap. Shut it down. HHS? Promoted this crap and didn’t even try to apply medical and scientific standards to the bullshit claims that allowed young children to mutilated their genitalia. Shut it down. USAID? It continued to run bizarre programs expanding this sick fetish crap around the world. I don’t care if it was one part of hundreds of other programs. Shut it down.

I’m not a fan of the tariffs or any of this other protectionist bullshit. But if I have to decide between that or allowing kids to be warped and parents to lose their rights or have to pay an extra $15K for my Audi next year, I’ll take paying for the German car…

But the toadying is nauseating, and the refusal of those on the right to criticize Trump and his gang for their obvious mistakes is ridiculous.
