Imagine being afraid to attach your name to this quote

“I do not support impeaching a sitting judge based solely on a decision with which I disagree,” said another House GOP lawmaker, granted anonymity to speak candidly

"You never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from."
    -Cormac McCarthy

It's the way "journalism" is practiced today.

The NYT school of "unnamed sources", you know ...

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

This was a guy who asked his name not to be used. They have others on the record in the same piece.

How do we know he asked his name not be used?

I think most people would assume he is a fictional character invented by the NYT guy.

Isn't that what the NYT does?
