Big day for the Conservatives and AfD. At the same time, there’s are enough center left and moderate Conservatives to limit the worst impulses of the fringe of the AfD. Seems like a best possible result, but curious to hear @Klaus take…

I'm not that happy. Marginally better than what we had but Not much will change. The change we need is far away still. We will have four more years of slow deterioration and withering.

I got that chart from Bluesky, and the most common response is women, vowing to never have sex with any such men.

It appears that the former West Germany voted for the Christian Democrats and the former East Germany (other than Berlin) delivered the AfD vote.
I’m so old that I can remember East Germany being pretty much the last hold out in the Soviet bloc. I guess perestroika never did catch the collective imagination of the volk in the east.

@Horace said in German Election:
Young men the world over are moving right.
You didn't get that quite right. "Linke" is a very left-wing socialist party.

Oh I see. But given that more young people voted left-wing your caption doesn't seem to be consistent with the graphics.

It’s not about the actual number, it’s about the significant growth. It’s a far larger number than a few short years ago.

Very. I don’t believe Trump intends to leave NATO. But then I didn’t think he’d attack Iran either.

Trump(CF) rightly wanted Europe to pay the agreed fair share costs towards NATO and defence. And by suggesting the US might quit NATO he's making them/us do it.
I don't see the US leaving NATO, we share some excellent bases all around the world.
