We’ve become Martha Mitchell, shouting into the void, convinced that if we just scream louder, voters will finally listen.
I don't think this is a good understanding of the psychology involved. The point of the shrill screaming about Trump is emotional catharsis, and I'm sure it works, in the way a rat in a cage pushing a lever for a food pellet works. Or in the way doom scrolling on tic-tok works. I don't think they think deeply enough to have convinced themselves that they are convincing anybody else. They just like expressing their emotions. That is how they process them. It takes a long time to process all those emotions, as we can all observe. Especially if Trump gives them a fresh supply of emotions every day.
