Bet you didn't have a story starter like that today...

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Mine went 'The Peruvian lying in my bed....'

      Only non-witches get due process.

          What was he lying about?

Hopefully not about his clean bill of health from the local free clinic.

            Education is extremely important.

I attended a 50th wedding anniversary party for my wife's first cousin this afternoon. Stayed there about an hour or so, catching up on old friends I hadn't seen in years.

Drove back home and when I pulled in the driveway, there's an older, black Honda Civic with silver scorpion graphics, buried up to the airdam in my driveway ditch. Laying flat next to it, was a young Mexican, trying to shove some of my firewood under his front tires.

Being the friendly fellow that I am, I pulled out my little snub-nose .38 and kept it below line-of-sight, while the wife rolled the car window down and hollered at the lad loud enough so that he could hear her. Luckily, my wife has knocked around Mexico enough, she can do better than the average bear.

When he got up off the ground, I could see he had a green vest on with the Amazon logo on it. His story was he'd delivered a package and turned around in the wrong place. Dumb story, since I can turn around a long wheelbase pickup in that driveway and he can't turn around a Honda Civic?

Anyway, I have the wife tell him I'll be right back and I run her up the house. Sure enough, there's an Amazon package by the door. I told her just to pick up her social gun and keep an eye on the front yard.

I put the snub back in my pocket and watch the lad work a few seconds, jacking up the car, shoving wood under the tires and he decides he'll give it a try. Could have told him it was no bueno before he even put it in gear. Shucks, I learned to drive in mud before I learned to drive on payment.

After his failed attempt, I pointed to the back of the car (I'd looked and seen no tow hook) and mimed a pulling motion. He understood what I wanted and reached into the car and pulled out an eye-bolt that screwed into a place under the bumper. Good thing he had just an eye-bolt, or both of us would have been in for a surprise.

While he screwed the bolt in, I walked back to the tractor shed, grabbed a chain and fired up Rohan. Drove it out to the Civic and the lad hooked up the chain. I motioned to him the letter "N" and pointed to the car. He put it in neutral and I eased his Honda out of my ditch. I let him unhook and then pointed him to the hard ground and the way out.

I got a heartfelt "Gracias" and he took off in a buzz of a four cylinder with a set of F&F wannabe exhaust pipes.

Reckon I'll wait until it dries up and I'll fix the ruts.

                That’s a mitzvah. Well done

It’s a half-mitzvah that he didn’t get shot for stealing your wood. 😆
