Reporter to President Trump: Your official portrait looks like a painting by Salvador Rosa.
President Trump: That was the lady who refused to give up her seat on a bus? I did not know she was a painter also!!

I'm surprised he hasn't adopted and integrated his conviction as a battle honour, as people do when earning a degree.

Just to nit-pick. I dont think VP Vance is retired from the Marines. I believe that you have to serve at least 20 years to call yourself military retired.

. I believe that you have to serve at least 20 years to call yourself military retired.
That's what you need for a pension, but I think you're right.
When using the term "retired" in a military context:
- It's not just about leaving the service; it's about having served long enough or under conditions that entitle you to retirement benefits and recognition as a retiree.
- It's important to use this term accurately as it carries implications about your service record and benefits eligibility.
Therefore, if you meet any of these criteria, you can rightfully refer to yourself as "military retired." However, if you simply left the service without meeting these criteria, terms like "veteran" or "former service member" would be more appropriate unless you've been officially retired by the military.

@Jolly Interesting. I know that in Taiwan, you can be recalled also, but then all guys are required to serve in the military.
